The best food vacuum sealer for sous vide is the MEGAWISE Updated Vacuum Sealer Machine 2025. Its moist mode pulls up to 10 ml of liquid out of the bag before the seal closes, so a portion of chicken or fish goes into the water bath flat and stays submerged.

The rest of this list splits by how you cook. If sous vide is the whole point of the machine, the Anova Slim was designed around it.

If you portion bulk meat for the freezer and cook some of it sous vide later, the FoodSaver FM2100 covers both jobs.

The best vacuum sealers for sous vide, ranked

The MEGAWISE is the best pick for most people because it handles wet food better than the machines around it without giving up dry-food storage. Every other sealer here wins on a specific need, from double seals to a one-handed lid.

Our score weighs specs, features and buyer feedback against what you're shopping for in a sous vide sealer.

MEGAWISE Updated Vacuum Sealer Machine 2025: Best overall

MEGAWISE Updated Vacuum Sealer Machine 2025, food vacuum sealers for sous vide cooking
9.1/10Our score
  • 80 kPa suction power
  • Moist mode removes up to 10 ml of liquid
  • Built-in bag cutter and 10 bags
  • Vacuum hose for jars and bottles

A moist mode that pulls up to 10 ml of liquid from the bag before the seal closes is exactly what sous vide portions need. It is also the smallest cabinet footprint in this group.

See it on Amazon

Pros

  • Moist mode for juicy foods
  • Built-in cutter and starter bags
  • Hose for jars and wine bottles

Cons

  • Hose covers jars and bottles but not all external bag types
  • One sealing wire across a 12 in strip

MEGAWISE suits the cook who portions marinated meat or juicy fish and wants the bag to hold its shape in the water. The moist mode removes up to 10 ml of liquid before sealing, which is the single most useful feature for sous vide at home.

The pump's 80 kPa rating is enough for standard textured bags as long as you use the right mode.

The Vac Pulse button lets you stop the pump whenever you like. That matters for a fillet or a piece of fruit that would flatten under full suction.

You can also use Seal alone for snack leftovers when no vacuum is needed.

At 15.2 x 4.1 x 2.3 in and about 2.3 lb, it takes up less cabinet room than any other machine on this list. A 12 in sealing wire lets you close wide bags in one pass.

The kit includes 10 bags and a vacuum hose for jars and wine bottles.

The trade-off is the pump's 80 kPa rating against the FRESKO's 95 kPa. A bag with more liquid needs a slower pulse.

Skip the MEGAWISE if you mostly seal big batches of dry staples. See our vacuum sealer for food picks for that job.

Nesco Deluxe VS-12 Vacuum Sealer: Best for double seals

Nesco Deluxe VS-12 Vacuum Sealer, food vacuum sealers for sous vide cooking
8.8/10Our score
  • 130 W double vacuum pump
  • Double heat seal technology
  • Gentle vacuum setting for soft food
  • Built-in roll storage and cutter

Two heat seals on each bag give sous vide portions a second line of defense against a leak during a long bath. The gentle setting keeps bread and berries from crushing.

See it on Amazon

Pros

  • Double heat seal
  • Normal and gentle vacuum pressure
  • Accepts up to 11.8 in bags

Cons

  • One of the heaviest here (6 lb)
  • Manual operation only

Nesco suits anyone whose sous vide cooks run 12 hours or longer, where a single seal line is the weak point. The double heat seal puts two sealed strips on each bag, so one small wrinkle does not end the cook.

A viewing window over the bag seat lets you check alignment before the lid locks.

The 130 W double pump pulls air faster than a single-pump machine. A gentle vacuum setting keeps bread, berries and soft fish from being crushed before the seal closes, and the moist mode handles damp proteins.

Roll storage and a built-in cutter are part of the machine, so you can make a bag for a long cut of meat without hunting for scissors. It accepts bags up to 11.8 in wide, the widest bag size in this group.

The Nesco takes any brand of vacuum sealer bag.

The cabinet weighs about 6 lb and measures 15.75 x 8 x 4.5 in, so it needs more counter or shelf room. It also runs as a manual machine, with no automatic bag detection.

Read the Bonsenkitchen vacuum sealer review if you want a lighter body with similar modes.

FoodSaver FM2100 Vacuum Sealer: Best for long freezer stretches

FoodSaver FM2100 Vacuum Sealer, food vacuum sealers for sous vide cooking
8.7/10Our score
  • Dual heat sealing strips
  • Built-in roll cutter
  • Accessory port and hose
  • FoodSaver states food keeps up to 3 years in the freezer

FoodSaver states this sealer keeps food fresh up to 3 years in the freezer, which suits cooks who portion raw meat for sous vide and freeze the extra bags. The dual seal strips back that up.

See it on Amazon

Pros

  • Dual heat seal strips
  • Accessory hose included
  • Five-year limited warranty from FoodSaver

Cons

  • Bulky for small kitchens
  • No dedicated pulse control

FoodSaver suits a household that buys meat in bulk, freezes most of it and cooks a few bags sous vide each week. FoodSaver states this model keeps food fresh up to 3 years in the freezer.

That number applies to frozen storage, not to the water bath, so judge the sealer on its seal quality for the cook itself.

Dual heat sealing strips give each bag two seal lines. A built-in roll cutter lets you size bags to the portion, so a single chicken breast does not waste a gallon bag.

The kit includes an 11 in by 10 ft roll plus three quart and two gallon bags to start.

An accessory port and hose are included. Use them for the FoodSaver handheld sealer on jars and containers, or to pull air from a bag when you are packing a marinade.

The 120 W pump and 110 volt rating suit standard US outlets.

The 16.3 x 9.2 x 4 in body is the widest here after the FoodSaver Compact. It also has no dedicated pulse mode, so a very wet bag needs care at the seal.

Our FoodSaver V4400 review covers the step-up model if you want more control.

Bonsenkitchen Vacuum Sealer Machine: Best for big sous vide batches

Bonsenkitchen Vacuum Sealer Machine, food vacuum sealers for sous vide cooking
8.6/10Our score
  • Four modes including Pulse Vac and Accessory
  • Bonsenkitchen says up to 30 bags in 15 minutes
  • Compact 15.28 x 5.71 x 3.03 in body
  • Bonsenkitchen provides a 3-year commitment

Pulse Vac lets you stop the pump before juice gets pulled toward the seal, and the accessory mode handles external sous vide bags. Bonsenkitchen rates it at 30 bags in 15 minutes.

See it on Amazon

Pros

  • Pulse control for wet food
  • Accessory port for external bags
  • Three-year commitment from Bonsenkitchen

Cons

  • Only 5 starter bags in the box
  • Light body needs two hands to steady

Bonsenkitchen suits the cook who fills the freezer in one session and then cooks portions sous vide through the month. Bonsenkitchen says the machine seals up to 30 bags in 15 minutes, which is a fair pace for a bulk prep afternoon.

Four modes cover the range: Vac and Seal for dry food, Pulse Vac for bread or soup, Seal alone for snack bags, and Accessory for external sous vide bags and jars. The last one matters if you already own reusable vacuum bags.

Pulse Vac gives you the manual control that a plain moist mode does not.

It measures 15.28 x 5.71 x 3.03 in and weighs 2.7 lb, so it stores easily. The 135 W motor sits in the middle of the pack for power.

Bonsenkitchen adds a 3-year commitment on top of the usual coverage.

The 5 starter bags run out quickly in a batch session, so plan to buy more. Its light body also shifts on the counter when the pump starts unless you hold the lid.

The 120 volt cord is fixed, so the machine needs a free outlet near where you prep.

FRESKO Vacuum Sealer Machine with Automatic Bag: Best for wet marinades

FRESKO Vacuum Sealer Machine with Automatic Bag, food vacuum sealers for sous vide cooking
8.4/10Our score
  • 95 kPa double pump
  • 140 W motor
  • Pulse Vac plus Extended Seal
  • 0.2 in widened heating strip

The widened 0.2 in heating strip plus an Extended Seal function is built for bags with marinade or juice inside. FRESKO rates it at 30 bags in 15 minutes.

See it on Amazon

Pros

  • Widened heating strip for moist foods
  • Extended Seal after pulse
  • 10 pre-cut bags included

Cons

  • Automatic bag detection needs the bag mouth flat
  • Heavier than the MEGAWISE

FRESKO suits marinade-heavy cooking. The 95 kPa double pump and 140 W motor give it the strongest suction in this group, and the 0.2 in widened heating strip holds a seal across a bag with juice inside.

A bag-mouth clamp keeps the opening from moving while the lid closes.

Pulse Vac controls how much air leaves the bag. After it, the Extended Seal function runs the strip longer, which gives a wet bag a better chance of closing cleanly.

That two-step routine is the feature to learn first if you seal marinated chicken or fish often.

FRESKO says the machine seals up to 30 bags in 15 minutes and pulls 18 L of air per minute. Ten pre-cut bags come in the box, along with two vacuum accessories.

The fully automatic mode detects the bag and starts the cycle without a separate button press.

The catch is that automatic bag detection needs a flat, straight bag mouth. A crumpled opening stops the sensor from starting.

It also weighs about 4 lb, heavier than the MEGAWISE, so it is less happy in a drawer.

Bonsenkitchen Easy Handle Vacuum Sealer: Best for one-handed locking

Bonsenkitchen Easy Handle Vacuum Sealer, food vacuum sealers for sous vide cooking
8.3/10Our score
  • Easy-lock handle
  • Bonsenkitchen says 50 bags in 20 minutes
  • Built-in cutter and bag storage
  • 65 dB noise level

The easy-lock handle closes the lid with one hand, which speeds up a long run of sous vide bags. A bag clamp keeps the opening flat so wrinkles do not spoil the seal.

See it on Amazon

Pros

  • One-handed lid lock
  • Bag clamp prevents wrinkles
  • Three-year commitment from Bonsenkitchen

Cons

  • Largest footprint among the Bonsenkitchen models here
  • No digital display

Bonsenkitchen's easy-lock handle suits a cook who works through many bags at once. Closing the lid with one hand leaves the other free to hold the bag, which speeds up a long sous vide prep session.

The stainless steel body is a step up from the all-plastic machines here.

Bonsenkitchen says the four-pump motor seals 50 bags in 20 minutes. A bag clip holds the opening flat so wrinkles do not spoil the vacuum, and a silicone press smooths the bag during the pull.

Globefish technology is the brand's name for the clear vacuum channel that keeps air moving evenly across the bag.

Five modes cover Vac and Seal, Pulse Vac, Seal, Extended Seal and Accessory. The 65 dB noise level is the quietest figure among the machines here that quote one, which matters if you seal late at night.

The cabinet measures 16 x 8.7 x 4.8 in and weighs 5.8 lb, so it is the bulkiest Bonsenkitchen model on this list. There is no digital display, so you judge the seal by feel.

Leave at least 4 in between the food and the bag opening, as Bonsenkitchen asks, or the vacuum can fail.

Bonsenkitchen Vacuum Sealer for Food: Best for timing long cooks

Bonsenkitchen Vacuum Sealer for Food, food vacuum sealers for sous vide cooking
8.2/10Our score
  • 135 W and four pumps
  • Digital countdown display
  • 3.3 mm widened heating strip
  • One roll and 10 pre-cut bags

A digital countdown display shows how much sealing time is left, which matters when you are working through several bags for a water bath. The 3.3 mm strip is among the widest here.

See it on Amazon

Pros

  • Countdown display for each seal
  • Widened heating strip in this group
  • Roll plus 10 bags included

Cons

  • Most expensive Bonsenkitchen model here
  • Taller cabinet than the MEGAWISE

Bonsenkitchen's digital timer model suits a cook who seals a run of bags back to back. A countdown display shows how much sealing time is left on each bag, so you can load the next one instead of guessing.

The easy-lock handle and bag clamp do the same steadying job as on the cheaper Bonsenkitchen model.

The 3.3 mm heating strip is among the widest in this roundup, which helps when a bag has a little moisture near the opening. Bonsenkitchen rates the four-pump motor at 50 bags in 20 minutes and states freshness holds up to 8 times longer.

The 135 W motor runs on standard 120 volt power.

Five modes include Pulse Vac and Extended Seal for juicy food. The stainless steel handle is a small upgrade over the all-plastic bodies elsewhere.

Noise is rated at 68 dB, slightly louder than the easy-lock model.

You get one 11 in by 20 ft roll plus 10 pre-cut bags, which is more bag stock than most machines here include. The trade-off is price within the Bonsenkitchen line and a 15.98 x 8.7 x 4.76 in body that needs more shelf room than the MEGAWISE.

Anova Slim Vacuum Sealer: Best for dedicated sous vide cooks

Anova Slim Vacuum Sealer, food vacuum sealers for sous vide cooking
8.1/10Our score
  • Separate air pulse and seal buttons
  • 10 BPA-free pre-cut bags included
  • Slim 2.3 lb body
  • Anova provides a 2-year warranty

Anova builds this sealer around its sous vide cookers, and the separate pulse button lets you stop the vacuum before a delicate fillet gets crushed. It is the lightest machine here.

See it on Amazon

Pros

  • Pulse and seal as separate buttons
  • Lightest machine in this roundup
  • Ships with 10 Anova bags

Cons

  • Highest wattage here
  • Fewer modes than the multi-mode machines

Anova suits a cook who already owns an Anova Precision Cooker or another circulator and wants a sealer made for that workflow. The separate air pulse and seal buttons let you stop the vacuum before a delicate piece of fish collapses.

Anova states the sealed bag stays under water during the cook and locks in flavor and moisture.

At about 2.3 lb it is the lightest machine here, and the slim 16.73 x 4.8 x 3.14 in body stores upright in a drawer. Anova includes 10 BPA-free pre-cut bags and backs the sealer with a 2-year warranty.

Wet and dry modes cover the basics.

Anova also offers sous vide recipes in its app, though the sealer itself needs no app to run.

The 800 W rating is the highest in this group and the reason it heats up fast. That power comes with fewer modes than the multi-mode machines, and there is no extended seal setting.

Skip it if you also want to freeze bulk meat in the same session. It runs on 110 volts.

FoodSaver Compact Vacuum Sealer: Best for tight countertops

FoodSaver Compact Vacuum Sealer, food vacuum sealers for sous vide cooking
7.8/10Our score
  • Stores upright
  • Dry and Moist settings
  • FoodSaver says food keeps up to 5x longer in the freezer
  • Works with FoodSaver handheld sealer accessories

It stands on its end, so it takes a narrow strip of counter or pantry space between sous vide sessions. The moist setting handles damp portions without a separate pulse control.

See it on Amazon

Pros

  • Stands upright to save counter space
  • Moist setting for damp foods
  • FoodSaver states 35% less bag waste than earlier models

Cons

  • Lowest score in this group
  • No pulse or extended seal modes

FoodSaver's compact model suits a small kitchen where the sealer lives in a cupboard between uses. It stands upright and takes a narrow strip of shelf space.

The white body measures 17.91 x 5.59 x 10.24 in, tall rather than wide.

Dry and moist settings cover both pantry staples and damp portions. FoodSaver says it seals with 35% less bag waste than earlier models, and the kit includes an 11 in by 8 ft roll plus three quart and two gallon bags.

The roll cutter trims bags to the portion.

It connects to the FoodSaver handheld sealer for jars and containers, though that accessory is sold separately. FoodSaver states food keeps up to 5 times longer in the freezer.

The 110 W pump is the least powerful here, so expect a slower pull on a full bag.

This is the lowest-scoring machine here for sous vide, because it has no pulse or extended seal mode. A wet bag needs a careful hand at the seal.

Our long term food storage guide covers machines better suited to pantry stockpiling.

How these vacuum sealers compare for sous vide

Every machine here will pull air from a dry bag. The differences that matter for water-bath cooking are pump strength, whether you can stop the pull partway, and how well the seal holds on a damp bag.

How we compared these vacuum sealers

We started from the modes each machine offers and asked which ones a sous vide cook actually uses. A moist or pulse setting was the first filter, since a bag with juice needs a gentler pull than a bag of dry rice.

A plain dry mode with no way to stop the pump dropped a machine down the list.

Next we looked at pump power and bag throughput. A higher kPa figure or a second pump means less time per bag, and a stated rate like 50 bags in 20 minutes tells you how the machine behaves in a batch session.

We weighed 80 kPa as the practical floor for home portions and treated 95 kPa as the ceiling in this group.

Seal width and heat strip design came third. A wider strip and a double seal both reduce the chance of a leak during a long cook.

A double seal on a long bath matters more than one extra bag per minute.

Finally we weighed cabinet size and weight against counter space. A machine that fits in a drawer is more likely to get used for a single portion than one that needs a dedicated spot.

The MEGAWISE and Anova Slim score well here; the Nesco and FoodSaver FM2100 do not.

What should you look for in a vacuum sealer for sous vide?

Look for a pulse or moist mode first, then a wide seal strip. These two features decide whether a bag with liquid closes cleanly and stays under water for the whole cook.

Wattage and bag count matter less than those two.

Does the sealer need a pulse or moist mode?

Yes, for any bag with juice or marinade. Pulse Vac lets you stop the pump before liquid reaches the seal.

A moist mode does part of that work for you by pulling a measured amount of liquid out of the bag. The MEGAWISE states it pulls as much as 10 ml.

Dry-only machines can still seal damp food, but you have to wipe the bag opening and watch the seal closely. That is extra handling on every bag.

A machine with both, like the FRESKO or the Bonsenkitchen models, gives you a fallback when one approach struggles.

How much pump power do you need?

80 kPa handles most home sous vide portions. The FRESKO at 95 kPa pulls harder and faster, which helps with larger bags or a full freezer session.

Below 80 kPa, expect a slower pull and more manual help.

More pumps matter more than a single high number when you seal many bags. A four-pump machine holds its speed across a batch instead of slowing down bag by bag.

The Anova lists 800 W, but wattage is about how fast it heats the strip, not how hard it pulls air.

How wide should the seal be?

A 12 in sealing wire covers most bags sold for home use. A 0.2 in or wider heating strip gives the seal more material to grab, which helps on a bag with moisture near the opening.

The Bonsenkitchen digital timer model goes to 3.3 mm, among the widest here.

A double seal adds a second line behind the first. That is the safest setup for cooks over 12 hours, where a single weak spot can let water into the bag.

The Nesco and the FoodSaver FM2100 both offer it.

Do you need an accessory port?

An accessory port lets you vacuum jars and external bags with a hose. It is worth having if you cook sous vide in reusable bags or store dry goods in jars.

The MEGAWISE, Bonsenkitchen models, FRESKO, FoodSaver FM2100 and Anova all include a hose or port.

If you only use standard textured bags, the port adds little. Spend the difference on bags instead.

Note that the MEGAWISE lists its hose for jars and wine bottles while the Bonsenkitchen machines list external interfaces for sous vide bags.

How much counter space will it take?

The MEGAWISE at 15.2 x 4.1 x 2.3 in is the smallest here, and the Anova Slim at about 2.3 lb is the lightest. The Nesco and the FoodSaver FM2100 need a wider, heavier spot.

The Bonsenkitchen easy-lock model is the bulkiest of its brand at 16 x 8.7 x 4.8 in.

If your kitchen is short on counter room, the FoodSaver Compact stands upright to save width. Weigh that against its lower score for wet bags.

A drawer-friendly machine gets used more, and use is what keeps a sous vide setup working.

Which vacuum sealer should you buy?

Buy the MEGAWISE if you want one machine for sous vide portions and freezer storage and you have limited counter space. Its moist mode and 80 kPa pump handle most home bags, and the built-in cutter keeps bag waste down.

Buy the Anova Slim if sous vide is your main cooking method and you already use an Anova circulator. Buy the Nesco or the FoodSaver FM2100 if long cooks and freezer stretches matter more than a compact body.

For a bulk session with marinades, the FRESKO's 95 kPa pump and widened strip give the best odds of a clean seal on a wet bag. For one-handed speed across many bags, the Bonsenkitchen easy-lock handle is the pick.

And if counter space is the limit, the FoodSaver Compact stands upright and still offers a moist setting. Whichever you choose, the best food vacuum sealer for sous vide is the one whose wet-food mode you will actually use before every cook.

Frequently asked questions

What makes a vacuum sealer good for sous vide?

A good sous vide sealer pulls air out without dragging liquid into the seal, so the bag stays flat and stays under water. Look for a moist or pulse mode, a wide heat strip and bags rated for the cooking temperature you plan to use.

Can I vacuum seal wet food for sous vide?

Yes, if the machine has a moist or pulse mode. Pulse Vac lets you stop the pump before marinade or juice reaches the seal.

Wipe the inside of the bag opening dry before the final seal, or the strip may not close fully.

Do I need special bags for sous vide cooking?

You need bags that are safe at your cooking temperature and thick enough not to soften into the water. Most textured vacuum bags sold for food storage work.

Check the bag's temperature rating before a long bath above 160 F.

Can I use a chamber sealer for sous vide?

Yes. Chamber sealers pull a stronger vacuum and handle liquid-filled bags better than countertop models.

They cost more and weigh much more, so a countertop sealer with a pulse mode is the practical pick for most home cooks.

Why did my sous vide bag float during the cook?

Air left in the bag, or air that came out of the food as it warmed, lifts the bag off the bottom. A tight vacuum seal helps, and so does weighing the bag down with a rack or a heavy spoon inside the water bath.
