Stainless steel sponge
This stainless steel sponge is a bundle of very fine and flexible steel filaments with sharp edges. It can be used to clean glass and porcelain because it is softer than these materials. It is still able to scrape off deposits without damaging the underlying surface. Do not use the sponge on scratch-sensitive surfaces and non-stick coatings. If you have had a pan bandaged, you can count on this wire sponge, this will thoroughly clean the stubborn dirt. Use moist and rinse well after use. The sponge is hygienic to use and can also be used on hot surfaces.
It is often difficult to understand why stainless steel is corrosion resistant. The alloys contained therein ensure that a thin transparent layer forms on the surface. Although only a few atoms thick, it protects the material well while spontaneously reforming under the influence of oxygen from the air or water after minor surface damage. Therefore, extra protection of a stainless steel surface is not required. The original corrosion resistance is retained even after decades of intensive use.
Cleaning the sponge is essential if you wish to re-use them. Fill a sink basin with hot water and a bit of Dr. Bronner soap. Put the sponge in the water. Let it soak in the hot soapy water for at least 15 minutes. This will loosen debris stuck to the brush. Use your fingers to gently comb through the sponge. This will remove trapped food or dirt particles from the bristles. Rinse the sponge under warm or hot water and you’re done!
